The beauty industry produces many specialized products and tools for the care of men’s hair. Here are some tips to help put some of those tools, products and your own personal style to use.
1. Use Hair Product Sparingly Do not pay attention to the amount of product the bottle says to use. Start out with a very small, less than dime sized amount of product for short hair and work up for longer hair exercising moderation. 2. Get your Hands Dirty Spread your hair care product between your fingers and hands for even distribution. Do not be afraid to put down your brush and comb and use nothing but your fingers as styling tools. 3. Blow Dry Thinning Hair for a Fuller Look For hair that is thinning on top, try blow drying after a wash and full body condition and comb the hair in front straight back. Use mousse or a light hairspray to keep the style in place. The blow dryer will keep hair from matting together and appearing thinner than it is. 4. Use a Cap to Dry your Hair If you do not like the way your hair looks after it is freshly washed because it has too much body and fluff for the style you are going for, consider tossing on a cap and letting it air dry. A cotton stocking cap will work, but a simple and classic baseball cap does the trick as well. Try to find a cap that will breathe, and that is easy to wash. Only use the hat to set your hair, and it will not get the dirt and grime of a regular-wear hat attached to it. 5. Wash your Hair the Night Before to Achieve a Better Bed-head Style Sometimes styling products are not enough to get that bed-head look. The best idea is to make the style authentic and simply sleep on it. If you are attached to your morning shower, still take it. Simply don a cap or shower cap when showering. 6. Don’t be Afraid to Pull it up Long hair on men is fashionable, but that doesn’t mean it has to get in the way. Try utilizing packs of black hair ties for a simple solution to hair in the face. 7. Hair Should Never Crunch With short hairstyles it is easy to overdo hairspray, gels, mousse, and style sticks. Even short hairstyles should have movement. Stick to a hair product that is not sticky, and does not flake. 8. Split Ends Need to be Dealt with If you are growing your hair out and you notice your ends are getting frizzy but you don’t want to go and get a professional trim, simply trim the ends yourself. Use sharp hair cutting scissors and only cut the very ends that are damaged.
