11 pvt MCs to admit students from govt list
The Kerala Self-Financing Medical College Managementsí Association is learnt to have decided to admit students to all the MBBS seats in 11 medical colleges under it from the state merit list. But they will not be charging government fees, except those for the BPL. Though the medical colleges were asking Rs 4.5 lakh for management seat, the government was hopeful of bringing it down.
Med colleges wonít stick to govt fee
Kerala Self-Financing Medical College Managementsí Association may have agreed to fill MBBS seats from the State merit list, but it will offer fee concession only to a section of economically weak students.
This was decided at a meeting between the government led by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and an association team led by Muslim Educational Society president P.K. Fasal Gafoor. The government was forced to initiate the discussion as admissions to these colleges were getting delayed indefinitely owing to legal issues over the entrance examination.
Meanwhile, CEE is expected to issue the first-round allotment to engineering colleges on Friday.
