Film: Mizhi Randilum
Director: Ranjit
Cast: Kavya Madhavan, Dileep, Indrajeet, Jagathy Sreekumar, Sukumari
Music: Raveendran
Lyrics: Vyalar Sharath Chandra Varma
This Onam witnessed four biggies. Kamal's SWAPNAKOODU was a youth film, Mammootty's PATTALAM was a comedy, Mohanlal's BALETTAN a family entertainer, the fourth one Ranjit's MIZHI RANDILUM a tearjerker. Bhadra and Bhama (both played by Kavya Madhavan) are twin sisters. Same face yet by nature they are different as chalk and cheese.
Bhadra by nature is soft spoken, silent yet she speaks volumes through her expressive eyes. Bhama on the other hand is outspoken and smart. Bhadra works as a nurse in a primary health center, and Bhama is a medical student. Bhadra has the responsibility of a big family, which has her mother (Sukumari), irresponsible brother Achuthan Kutty (Jagathy Sreekumar), her uncle and his mentally absent wife and a grandmother.
Then there is Dr Arun (Indrajeet) who works with Bhadra. He has a soft corner for her. He along with his parents comes to Bhadra's home with a proposal for marriage. But Achuttan Kutty humiliates Dr Arun and his parents. Also Bhadra drops a bombshell on Arun saying that she cant marry him as she is responsible for her family.
Enter Bhama, who has just finished studies. Now here comes the surprise package in the film, which is Krishna Kumar (Dileep). He is a rich moneylender and Achuttan Kutty owes him money. Krishna also falls in love with Bhadra. Added to this the family mistakes that Krishna Kumar is in love with Bhama. Now who will marry Bhadra is it Krishna or Dr Arun forms the crux of the film. Musically the tunes by Raveendran are good. Performance wise everyone have met expectations. Kavya performs well in the dual role. Indrajeet is good, but Dileep outshines him. Jagathy, Sukumari have given a decent performance. Others are okay. Overall the film proves to be a good pastime. |
