Mohanlal to return to stage today

THRISSUR: Taking time off his busy shooting schedule, actor Mohanlal will return to the stage, playing the lead role in the Malayalam play 'Chayamukhi' here today.

Actor Mukesh is also playing a major role in the play.

Talking to reporters here, Mohanlal and Mukesh said they had taken about three years to finish the drama based on a folk story.The play is directed by Prasanth Narayanan under the banner 'Kalidas Visual Magic.' The actors said Malayalam theatre was facing a serious crisis due to non-availability of able actors because of a combination of factors including 'poor remuneration'.

They hoped that Chayamukhi would give the much needed push to Malayalam theatre.

"Theatre is a more refreshing and challenging field than celluloid," Mohanlal added.
