How can I set the board to where only registered members can read it - or is that the default?

Also = how do I set it up so that admin has to approve new members?

Thank you.

By default everyone can read all the folders which you create. To change it such that all the folders are only readable by registered users, you have to change the Forum Permissions.

Log on to the admin account via the Admin Log-in page. On the selection menu on the left, look under Forum Admin > Permissions.

Now this is the tedious part: One by one, select the folder by clicking it on the dropdown selection. Then click on Look Up Forum.

Next, click on Advanced Mode and you will see the permission settings for all the various functionalities, e.g. View, Read, Post, etc.

Set REG for the View and Read options for your case and click on Submit. Do this for all your folders.

Second part of your question: How to set up your forum so that they need your admin approval.

This is very simple. Once again, log-in to your admin account via the Admin Log In page.

Look to your left under General Admin and click on the Configuration link.

Now look to your right. Under the option for "Enable account activation", select the Admin radio option and click Submit to save.

Now, you will receive an email whenever someone registers an account with your forum and only you will be able to activate their account for them to start posting.

Hope the information helped.
