Default How To Make Curtains

Learn to Make Curtains

Step 1: First of all, hem the curtain and its lining fabric. While the curtain hem should be 10 cm deep, that of the lining should be about five cm deep.

Step 2: Step two is to spread the curtain fabric face up on the table. After this, adjust the lining fabric face down atop the curtain one. See to it that both fabrics lie smooth and flat.

Step 3: Now cut down only the lining fabric so that it’s around 10 cm narrower than the curtain fabric material placed below it. After this, pull both the curtain and lining fabrics together from one side and pin them. Smoothen out the fabrics with the hand again and also pin down the horizontal opposite side of the lining and curtain fabrics.

Step 4: Now stitch together both sides of the fabrics allowing at least one centimetre. Then turn them out, so that the fabric on the right side will show on the outside. At this stage, the curtain fabric will show two or three cm down from each side.

Step 5: The next task is to pin the top of your handmade curtain at the correct length, which’s now all set for the curtain tape.

Step 6: You can clip the measuring tape over the end of the table and then measure the curtain to make sure it’s of the right length. Once fastened over, trim off the surplus fabric over 10cm.

Step 7: Lastly stitch up your curtain tape’s first tuck by a few centimeters and thereafter, sew the top line.

Step 8: Repeat the same process on the bottom line. When reaching the far end, keep in mind to allow a few centimeters’ more tape to tuck under again. Your curtain is ready.
