Srikanth for the first time dons the role of a journalist in S.S. Durairaj’s Sadhurangam under the banner Mass Movie Makers. He is Thirupathysamy working in ‘Thisaigal’, a weekly, in love with college student Sandhya (Sonia Agarwal). While talking about his role, Srikanth said “I did a lot of homework for this role. During press conferences I observed the professional mannerisms of journos and improvised in my own way in the film”. For her part, Sonia Agarwal said “I play a deglamorised role in the film with a lot of scope to emote”. Mahadevan who impressed as a villain in Pithamagan, plays the villain here too. He plays the character Singamperumal in the film. Apart from host of other artistes in the movie, the Chennai city and the Cellphone play an important role in Sadhurangam.

Karu.Palaniappan, whose earlier blockbuster Parthibhan Kanavu with Srikanth and Sneha is directing the film. He said “Sadhurangam is a movie aimed at today’s youth which will attract family audience”. Most part of the film is shot with a Steady Cam by cinematographer Diwakaran. The music is scored by Vidhyasagar. The stunt director is Super Subburayan.

A different approach has been adopted for the publicity of the film. All materials associated with publicity like banners, posters and ads are done in black and white to go with the title Sadhurangam ( a chess board) . The dual colour among the multicolour posters has attracted a lot of attention from the public and the expectations are also high.

The film will be released in May.
