Rumours galore that 19th step to be directed by Bharath Bala directed and produced in association with Walt Disney productions have been shelved? The film featuring Japanese superstar Tadanobu Asano, Kamal Hassan and Asin in the lead is said to be tentatively put on the backburner as some creative differences between the director and Kamal Hassan has cropped up, over the script. It is learnt that Kamal Haasan had wanted a few changes to be effected in the script, which did not work well with the producers.
19th Step had grabbed a lot of media attention after Asin became a major star in Bollywood after Ghajini.
This film was supposed to be her next film after Ghajini and the Mumbai tabloids went berserk reporting about the actress learning Kalaripayattu, the martial art of Kerala, and her getting hurt during the training and finally that Japan schedule of the film being cancelled due to Swine flu.
Japanese superstar Tadanobu Asano was in Chennai and Kerala going through the costumes, meeting the script writer M T Vasudevan Nair and learning Kalaripayattu in Calicut in Kerala.
A photo shoot which was planned during this time with the lead actors also never took place. However, director Bharath Bala and the unit members had no comments to say when contacted. There is nothing official about it as the producers, the directors and the stars have never ever held a press conference or made an announcement officially in the media about this project.
