Penny-pinching Flash designers rejoice! SwiSHmax gives you a full-fledged Flash studio with a plethora of features, a straightforward work flow, and a knockout price. SwiSHmax comes with a wealth of easy-to-use features that let you design stunning animations in no time. It also supports Flash action scripts, so you can use it to create Web menus. Though the interface looks overwhelming at first (especially the huge lists of effects), we eventually found it clear and handy. Using the timeline, you can easily overlay and edit multiple layers of text, sprites, and images. Our one major complaint was with the 15-day trial, which is not enough time to evaluate such a complex tool. Powerful and quite easy to master, SwiSHmax is indispensable for folks who design banners and menus for Web sites. If you're looking for a low-cost alternative to Macromedia's $700 Flash Professional, you'll probably find it here.
