Can I make a private forum?

I want to add one forum that only a few select can look into, can I do this on the phpBB system?

You can stop registrations.
Also you can change individual forum permissions.
All this can be done if you have access to admin control panel.

Goto admin panel
forum admin -> permissions
select the forum u want to make private from dropdown list
Then again in the dropdown list select "private forum"
all can c the forum but only permitted can enter
u can also make it "private forum (hidden)"
so only permitted viewers can c the forum and enter

May I ask how you select the members to give them permission to view the private (hidden) forum? That's the part I'm stuck on...

Goto admin panel
User admin -> Permissions
type the username and clcik Look up user
then permissions page comes up
click on advance mode link
here u can give him access to private forum
also can give him rights to reply,post etc

Perfect, thank you. I guess since I hadn't created the private forum yet, I wasn't getting that option when I was in user permissions! Mystery solved!

Don't suppose you could help me get my forum backed up? I've contacted 'help' twice with no joy...
