private forums read only?

I locked some of my forums/threads, gave access to some of my friends. but they can only read posts of mine, they can't post, reply, etc. anyone had this problem? any ideas how to fix it?

The only way I can let them access is if i make them moderators, and i dont want to do that.

I think u dont know the meaning of locking the forum/thread

It is locked so that only mods\admin can work on it
no one else

Its not a problem, but it is like that only
Unlock the forum/thread and all will be able to post there

is it like that only on free forums?
because my old clan used it like im trying too.

ok well, i want forums for clan members only, so i locked some and gave permission to clan members, but they can only read them, dont have permission to reply, etc.
ive been in a clan that had that.
(had forums locked for clan members only, and it worked)

Wel then create a group from groupCP
then add users or the clan members there
then give the permisson for the private forum to that group

but anyhow u have to unlock the forum
this way mods and clan members can reply or post
others will not be able to post

I dunno how users were able to post when u had ur forum locked??
its impossible that users other than mod\admin will be able to post in locked threads unless some mod is installed
give ur forum url
I think u r also makin mistake in differenciating private forum and locked forum
