SHANE WARNE'S WORLD RECORD OF 704 WICKETS.
Australian leg spinner Shane Warne become the first bowler to take 700 test wickets, when he removed English opener Andrew Strass in the 4 th Ashes match in Melbourne, Australia on Tuesday 26 th Dec 2006. At the end of the day, the 37 year old ( born in 13 Sep 1969 in Melbourne) let scapled 4 more wickets, his 37th 5 wicket haul in a test innings.
During his 15 years of career, he played 144 tests, debut v India, Sydney in 1992, bowled 40417 balls, scored 3043 runs, Avg 16.81, highest score 99, best bowling 8-71.
On the historic day, 26 th Dec 2006, 89155 viewers gathered in the stadium and was the second biggest crowd for a day of test cricket. Record crowd of 90800 gathered in Feb 1961 for the Australia - New Zealand match.

Shane Warne removed Sajid Mohamood(0) and Steve Harmision (4), both lbw, to reach 706 test wickets with 293 wickets in one dayers, he needs one more to reach the 1000 mark. One test match is remaining in his career.
Shane Warne got duck 34 times from 198 innings. |
