| If you own the forums site, you have access to all of your members' e-mail addresses...but, you would have to pull up the profile of each one of them in order to access their profile information to get their e-mail address. My best suggestion would be to get yourself a totally separate e-mail account from your personal primary account to use strictly for your forums site. Get yourself a free Gmail account for this purpose. A tip: Set your Gmail account preferences so that it will forward any messages you receive in your Gmail account to your primary e-mail account. This means that you won't necessarily have to keep checking your Gmail account as any messages you receive there (once you have set mail forwarding in your Gmail account preferences) will be automatically forwarded to your primary e-mail account. You will, however, want to clean out your Gmail account periodically to get rid of any old messages in there. You can then make a group folder in your Gmail account address book and name it something like "My Forum Members" (or, whatever you want to call it) and add all of your forum members' e-mail addresses into that group folder. Then, whenever you want to contact your entire membership, you can do it by selecting the mail recipient "My Forum Members" (or whatever you have named this group). I strongly suggest that when you do send out group e-mails, put the recipients' addresses in the "Bcc" (Blind Carbon Copy) section rather than in the "To" section. This protects ALL of your members' privacy as it hides them from view so that none of your members will be able to see anyone else's e-mail address. A lot of folks do NOT want their e-mail address made public to a bunch of other people that they do not know and they get highly upset when this happens. You do NOT want to upset your members lest they leave your site permanently! |
