Kajol doesn't regret her unfinished formal education

Kajol doesn't approve of an education system that encourages learning by rote rather than promoting understanding in a student.

For those who don't know much about Kajol's past, the dusky actress never finished her formal education and left it half way to make a more sense out of her life.

Known for her voracious reading habit, Kajol says she doesn't regret her decision to drop out at an early stage because she was simply put off by mugging up things.

"It was more a case of self developed need for knowledge rather than the need for a degree," she says, adding that it was hands-on experience that counted more than anything.

At the same time, she doesn't negate the importance of formal education. "It disciplines the mind and trains the mental process," she says.
