Pushpagiri started as a small clinic in Cheru Pushpagiri Hills with 8 beds in the year 1959 to provide maternity care to the rural people in and around Tiruvalla by the Catholic Diocese of Tiruvalla. As an initial step to attain its objectives the Society took over the ownership and management of Pushpagiri Hospital which had grown into a super specialty hospital with 550 beds. By the year 2001, Pushpagiri Group of Institutions initiated projects for a medical college and a nursing college.

Pushpagiri Medical College Hospital (PMCH), Tiruvalla is one of the premier super specialty multi-disciplinary hospitals in Kerala. The hospital has acquired the status of a teaching hospital in 2002 and has a unique place in the health care field in the State of Kerala. The hospital has a wide range of supporting facilities like 1.5 Tesla MRI, Spiral CT Scan, Dialysis Unit, Physiotherapy Centre, Round the Clock Blood Bank, Pain & Palliative Care Centre etc.

MANAGEMENT OF THE HOSPITAL

Pushpagiri is governed by a Board of Directors under the Pushpagiri Medical Society, registered under the Travancore Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Act 1955 with registration no. P 73/92. The Society is the official organ of the Malankara Catholic Diocese of Tiruvalla. H.E. Dr. Thomas Mar Koorilos, is the Patron of the Society. Rev. Dr. Shaji Vazhayil who is the Secretary of the Society and C.E. of Pushpagiri Group of Institutions leads the team in the day to day management of the Institutions of the Society.
