Kalady

Once a remote village in Kochi, Kerala, Kalady the birth place of Adi Sankaracharya, the great Indian philosopher of the 8th century AD is now a famous pilgrim centre. He propounded the philosophy of Advaita. Adi Sankaracharya was born here in 788, as the only son of Sivaguru and Aryamba, a Kerala Brahmin couple. On the same premises there is also a spot (Brindavan) where Adi Sankaracharya’s mother Aryamba was cremated. The Shri Krishna temple close by was the family temple of Adi Sankaracharya. 45 m away from the Mutt is the nine-storeyed Sri Adi Sankara Keerthi Sthamba Mandapa which has illustrations in it that tell the story of Sankara’s life.

Guruvayoor

A big pilgrim draw, Guruvayoor is known as Kasi of South. Round the year devotees throng to worship Guruvayoorappan, little Krishna, the reigning deity.

Sabarimala

Sabarimala is the focus of an annual pilgrimage carried out by thousands of pilgrims every year. The principal deity at Sabarimala is Lord Ayyappa who is considered to be a union of Shiva and Vishnu. Lord Ayyappa is seen as a unifying focus of the Shaivite and Vaishnavite branches of Hinduism. Lord Ayyappa is also known as Dharma Shasta and some scholars have interpreted this to mean Lord Buddha, however there is no evidence of Lord Buddha's coming to Kerala and therefore this theory is disputed._

Vallarpadam

Vallarpadam, an enticing tiny islet is encircled by picturesque Kochi backwaters. The church on the eastern end of the island is a jewel on the island physique. The church was established in 1676 and the famous picture of the Blessed Virgin Mary was erected by Portuguese who brought it from their native land.

Malayattoor

Malayattoor, a place of prayer and pilgrimage; made rich by the foot steps of St. Thomas the Apostle, who sowed the seeds of Christianity in this part of the world. Revere at his saintly footsteps clearly embedded on the rock - marvel at the Golden cross that sprang up from no where - Yes malayattoor indeed has all these and more.. Malayattoor a meeting place of mountain and river shot into prominence when she was blessed by the missionary work of St. Thomas the apostle of Jesus Christ. He set foot at Kodungalloor, in A.D.52 and founded the famous seven churches. On his way to Mylapoor, he set down at Malayattoor.

Cheraman Juma Masjid

The first mosque in India. Situated in Methala, Kodungalloor, hardly 20 kilometer from the Irinjalakuda railway station.Legend says King Cheraman Perumal of Kodungallor left for Mecca, embraced Islam, accepted the name Thajudee, married the sister of the then King of Jeddah.

Beema Palli

Beema Palli is a mosque situated on the coast, nearly 5 kms south of Thiruvananthapuram city. The shrine is dedicated to Beema Beevi, a pious muslim lady believed to have divine powers.
