Gamers following the Defense of the Ancients scene would be very familiar with the recent closed beta session of Riot Games’ real-time strategy entry League of Legends across the region. Now, RTS fans in Southeast Asia can enjoy the intricacies of playing League of Legends on Asian servers.

The game is now set in an open beta phase, thanks to a recent Renekton patch applied to the game. This means that gamers will not need a beta key to join in and server capacity across the region has increased to keep up with the game’s growing player count.

The free-to-play RTS was released in North America and Europe in 2009. While League of Legends follows a similar gameplay style as DotA, the game features a hack-free system, advanced matchmaking, and a new leaverbuster feature that filters and bans gamers who quit early on purpose. The current number of registered users for Garena is about 40 million worldwide spanning across 20 countries.
