Why? You're joking, tell me you are...
.htaccess is a collection of easy scripts, but other scripts combined can take over this functions I read somewhere..
No link? Try http://www.javascriptkit.com/howto/htaccess.shtml or http://www.crazygrrl.com/weav/htaccess.php3 or http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/howto/htaccess.html

    Just joking;)

There are bunches of log-in scripts
There are bunches of protect-page scripts
And there are bunches of page-lacing scripts (tying two or more pages within the same log-in/protection..)

Well, if PHP is enabled, .php files are protected as executables, visitors do not have access to code...

You may store content in database, so it could be safe.

Only files you can't protect is images, but hotlinking is disabled so imgs are safe from malicious use.

Why this hosting block .htaccess? Heh, no answer from bizhat persolal.
    ...
Now, really offtopic, but very important:
Why now I must provide 20 non-spam posts to ask for a php enabled hosting?

When I joined these forums (don't ask me why I did it), there was a rule to make 10 posts... I managed to do it in 4 days, it was not easy, not at all, and then I spotted that request theme was locked. I can't get no satisfaction
