The "D " character of English is one of Chinese word.
It means mouth. Pronouncation is like "kou".

    So, you learned one word.

To greet somebody, chinese don't say the words about "The Day" like "good morning" or "good afternoon."

When we/you meet strangers, Chinese/you can say "hi".

    Other situation:
If we meet an old firend, we will say "hi." Most people will say "Ni Hao Ma"(means how are you) or "Zui Jin Hao Ma"(means how are you recently). Cause we want to know his/her condition or situation.

A speaker will say "Da Jia Hao"(means everybody are fine) to listeners.

And I will say "Chi Bao Mei"(means Are you finish your meal? or did you eat anything?) to my parents, very closed friends and good neighbors.

When you meet a chinese in any time, just say "hi" or "Ni Hao"(means you are fine.) as greeting.
