According to a leading cricket website, Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir will soon rejoin Essex to play the remainder of the county season. Gambhir had to return to India on September 2 because of family reasons. However, he will rejoin the squad on Tuesday in Canterbury, where Essex play a Championship game against Kent from Wednesday.

"Gautam returned home to India on 1 September but will now rejoin the Essex squad ahead of the trip to Kent on Wednesday 11 September in the LV= County Championship at Canterbury," Essex confirmed.

Aiming for a comeback in Team India, Gambhir opted to travel to England to find his lost form during his maiden county stint. Despite a dismal start against Northamptonshire, Gambhir bounced back to score a century against Gloucestershire before returning home.

Gambhir has not played for India since the home ODIs against England in January. He was also ruled out of the subsequent Test series against Australia due to jaundice after being picked for the first Test. Gambhir played the IPL but struggled to find consistency as Kolkata Knight Riders finished mid-table.
