Do we need vBulletin ?

Some of the advantage we see about phpBB is

1. We manage lot of phpBB forums, using same software for all is easy to manage

2. phpBB is Open source, we have more freedom to use it.

3. SEO MOD, Free with phpBB, But have to pay for vBulletin. Most of MOD in phpBB is free, but not for vBulletin.

Decision of phpBB or vBulletin take some time as we have yet to find a solid reason for the moving to vBulletin.

phpBB 3 is beta 2 now, it may take some more months. May be they are planing to release of new year.

phpBB is good but phpBB3 wil take more time to be out
As said by Nokia phpBB has good amount of free mods and yes free SEO. But it performance degrades after installing mods. Some consume high CPU

vBulletin is good but costs much. Also skins for the board will also cost. But it gives very good control over posts and users and I think for a forum with more than 70000 users we need surely need to switch

I'll try phpBB 3 today and then cast my vote
Till then vbulletin is the choice

phpBB3 is just superbb!!!

Every aspect is configurable and a sort of new look
Good control over forums and very easy to install like phpbb2
Also configurable BBcode allows to add more post features

But i dont think Final release will be soon. It'll take atleast 6-7 months or more

Till then Fight spam with almost no great tools
