    Default Golden temple

    Golden temple, Amritsar, Punjab : Holiest Sikh shrine constructed in 1577 . Part of the exterior is gilded with gold leaf. The Hari Mandir is in the midst of a pool.     Badrinath, Uttarakhand (Uttaranchal) : Hindu pilgrim centre dedicated to Lord Vishnu (bus from Rishikesh, 300 km, 12 hour, 3100 m), hot springs : Taptakund and Surya kund (55 C), from temple steps leads to Charan paduka. The last village Mana is at 3 km away. Vyas gupha : cave, trek to Vasudhara falls via Bhim pul (5 km, 122 m water fall at 3658 m). The route leads to Mt. Nilkantha (6596 m, 10 km). Mt Kamet (7756 m) is the highest peak in Garhwal.

    Somnath temple, Gujrat : Legendary temple believed to be built by 'Moon' God . It's treasures ransacked by Mahmud Ghazni seven times.     Jagannath temple, Puri, Orissa : The 12 th century 65 m tall temple has a conical pinnacle overlooks the landscpe for miles around. Puri temple (60 km from Bhubaneshwar) - one of the four most holy places of Hindu pilgrimage (other holy abodes are Badrinath, Dwarka & Rameshwaram), 20000 people are depended on temple for their livelihood, beaches, Pipli on the way is a village famous for handicrafts - colourful canopies, beach umbrellas, hand bags etc.

    Default Bangla Sahib & Sisganj

    Bangla Sahib : Located near Connaught place in Delhi, Bangla Sahib is a sacred place of the Sikhs. The Gurudwara is built at the site of the house where Guru Harkrishan Dev, the eighth guru of the Sikhs, stayed when he visited Delhi in 1664. The near by is a tank of water and the water of the tank is believed to have curative powers. With in the complex is a museum of Sikh history called the Baba Bhagel Singh museum, which has paintings depicting istorical events connected with Sikh history.

    Sisganj is another famous gurudwara located near the Red fort in Chandini chowk, Delhi. It is the place of Guru Teg Bahadur's martyrdom. When he refused to embrace Islam on the instructions of Emperor Aurangazeb, he was beheaded here by the orders of the emperor. He was cremated at Gurudwara Rakabganj, another gurudwara in Delhi.
