As many as 443 MBBS seats and 210 BDS seats were left unfilled at the end of the first round of counseling to the 15% All India Quota seats in Government Medical and Dental colleges in the country. Altogether, 2178 seats were available for allotment when the counseling process started on July 2, 2011. This included 1941 MBBS seats and 237 BDS seats. In the 8 days long counseling, 1498 MBBS seats and 27 BDS seats were accepted by the candidates. These seats left unfilled, will also be included in the second round of counseling.

Assam-72; Bihar- 11; Chhattisgarh- 15; Goa- 5, Gujarat- 5; Jharkhand-13; Karnataka-24; Meghalaya- 7; Maharashtra- 111; Manipur-30; Madhya Pradesh- 21; Orissa- 9; Pondichery- 14; Tamil Nadu - 25; Tripura- 15; West Bengal-66.

All the seats for BDS have been allotted at Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, New Delhi; Government Dental College, Kottayam and Govt. Dental College & Hospital, Jaipur.


The vacant seats for BDS are as follows.

Assam-6; Chhattisgarh- 15; Goa- 6, Gujarat- 21; Himachal Pradesh- 8; Haryana- 7; Karnataka- 16; Kerala -9; Maharashtra- 36; Madhya Pradesh- 6; Orissa- 3; Punjab-12; Pondichery- 6; Tamil Nadu - 15; Uttar Pradesh-6; West Bengal-38.
