Default Homemade Biscuits


Baking Powder Biscuits


Ingredients

* 2 cups Sifted Flour
* 2 tsp. Baking Powder
* 4 tbs Butter Or Shortening
* 1/2 tsp. Salt
* 3/4 Cup Milk

Directions

* The first step would be to filter flour once. Determine the quantity required and add baking powder and salt to the mixture. Filter again and then mix butter.
* Once butter has been added, pour the milk gradually, stirring it until a soft dough is formed.
* Turn out on slightly floured board and lightly press for 30 seconds, enough to shape. Roll 1/2 inch thick and cut with 2 inch floured biscuit cutter.
* Set the mixture to baking on an ungreased sheet in about 400 degree for 12-15 minutes.

Thyme and Cheese Biscuits

Ingredients

* 2 cups Flour
* 3 tsp. Baking Powder
* 1 tsp. Fresh Minced Thyme
* 1/2 tsp. Minced Fresh Parsley
* 1/2 tsp. Minced Fresh Rosemary
* 1/2 cup Cheddar Cheese
* 5 tbs Butter
* 1/2 cup Milk

Directions

* The first step towards making thyme and cheese biscuits is to preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
* Lubricate a cookie sheet and set aside.
* Combine flour, baking powder, herbs and cheese in a large bowl. Blend it well using a fork. The mixture is generally powdery in texture. Mix butter to the blend.
* Then, add milk and stir until dough holds together. If necessary, add more milk.
* Using a large spoon, Drop spoonfuls on the cookie sheet placing each piece an inch apart from each other and bake it for 10-12 minutes.

Almond Biscuits with Berry Butter

To Make Almond Biscuits

Ingredients

* 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
* 1 tbs Baking Powder
* 1 tsp. Salt
* 1/2 cup Butter
* 3/4 cup Milk
* 1/2 cup Toasted Sliced Almonds
* 2 tbs Honey

Directions

* The first step towards making thyme and cheese biscuits is to preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
* Mix flour, baking powder and salt in medium bowl.
* Add butter to the mixture and blend it well until the mixture turns crumbly.
* Add milk, almonds and honey to the mixture and mix until the flour is moistened.
* Press the dough gently to give it a shape of a ball. Roll out or pat down dough on a lightly floured surface to 3/4 inch thickness.
* Using a floured 3 inch heart shaped cutter, cut out the dough, re-rolling as needed.
* Place these an inch apart on an ungreased sheet and bake for about 10 to 12 minutes.
