Kochi has been a major tourist destination due to the sights and experiences that Kochi has to offer. Reaching the city by road is also easy as the city is connected to most of the other cities by an extensive network of roads. The National Highway (NH) system has been the backbone of travel by road for India. NH 17 and NH 49 start from Kochi as the starting point and go up to Mumbai and Madurai respectively. NH 47 is another highway that goes through the heart of Kochi as it extends from Kanyakumari to Salem. Travelling by air seems to be the easiest and most time saving mode of travel these days.
