Engineering & Medical entrance exams from April 21 to 24

The state medical and engineering entrance exams for 2014 will be held from April 21 to 24 in over 300 centres in the state, in addition to venues in Dubai, Delhi, Mumbai, Ranchi and Shillong.

"This is the first time that examination centres are being introduced in Mumbai, Ranchi and Shillong. Unlike last year, there is no single national level examination this year for MBBS and BDS seats, hence the exam will be conducted by the state government itself," education minister P K Abdu Rabb said.

For preparing the rank list for engineering seats, the government will consider in equal ratio the score in the entrance test as well as qualifying exams, and standardize them.

Applications for the entrance exams can be submitted from January 11 to February 4 on the website of the entrance commissioner . The printout of the application and necessary documents should reach the office of the entrance commissioner before February 5.

The security cards required for application will be distributed through 170 selected post offices in the state and outside, from January 10. The security cards and prospectuses for students belonging to scheduled tribes and whose annual family income does not exceed Rs 40,000, will be distributed through scheduled tribe development offices.

Since Kochi cooperative medical college has been taken over by the government, the allotment towards all seats except the all-India quota will be filled up by the government.

There will not be any state entrance exam for filling up seats for BArch courses. Students who wish to apply for BArch seats should obtain the necessary qualification by attending the national aptitude test for architecture conducted by the National Institute for Advanced Studies in Architecture.
