Sunny boy debuts behind camera in dad's film

With his real aim reportedly being a flourishing acting career, Sunny Deol's son Karan has entered the big bad world of Bollywood as an assistant director.

The 21-year-old has begun assisting director Sangeeth Sivan on the shoot of the sequel to Yamla Pagla Deewana, the 2011 hit that featured the entire Deol clan- Sunny, Bobby and daddy Dharmendra. The shooting of the film kicked off in London on Sunday. YPD 2 starts in Scotland and travels to Varanasi, before shifting back to the United Kingdom.

"Karan was keen on working as an assistant director, so he was given the chance by Sangeeth. On the sets of YPD, he assisted him, worked with camera persons and also handled the clapboard as Sunny gave the shot," a source from the sets said.

Rocky, as Karan is fondly called by his friends and family members, has been taking acting and filmmaking lessons from director Rahul Rawail. As far as Karan's acting debut is concerned, there is nothing definite on the cards yet. But the grapevine has it that he may begin his career by starring in the sequel to Sunny’s blockbuster debut film, Betaab, which released in 1983.

The buzz is that Sunny plans to launch Karan's acting career in 2013, as the year also marks 30 years of his career in Bollywood. "Sunny has big plans to launch his son. He is only waiting for the right script and director, so that Karan's debut film gets recognition," the source added.

Since all the three Deols made their debut with love stories, Karan, too, will opt for a romantic debut. It was earlier said that Sunny himself will turn director for his son's debut film, but now he is on the lookout for a seasoned director to launch his son.
