Mp4 is the mostly used video container format right now and nearly can be recognized in almost every devices and player. It has advantages such as higher compression and better quality. M4V is almost the same with mp4 in mant ways, but one thing different is m4v could be used in Apple family with authorized first.But there are many problems for m4v, like can't play in Android devices and other platforms.
