Thrillers are not easy to make and especially when you have a director like Anant Mahadevan concentrating on the unnecessary glamor and gimmicks to make a twinkling film amidst the dark clouds. The film concentrates on the passion of an obsessed lover who is not ready to get betrayed by his lady love.
Thrillers made across the globe have a common intention in place, and that is to keep the suspense intact till the very end. Furiously, Anant Mahadevan chooses a disheartened climax for his storyline.
While Aggar keeps you involved in parts, it is post interval that the screenplay and the direction takes a back seat which is surely going to leave you wanting some leash of fresh air.
Aggar is touted to be a mind boggling thriller, filled with the elements of passion, love and fear.
The story of Aggar is about how a woman cheats her husband and then has to pay for her own deeds. Janvi (Udita Goswami) is an event manager. Dr Adi Merchant (Shreyas Talpade), a psychiatrist, is her husband.
Janvi indulges into an illicit affair with Aryan (Tussar Kapoor). Eventually, she starts disbelieving the relationship as a reason to live for. After a sequence of events, she realizes the underlying darkness creeping into her life as a result of the alleged affair with Aryan.
She tries to shrug off Aryan, who is not ready to let Janvi go so easily. His passionate love story takes a dangerous twist when he decides to eliminate Dr Adi from his path.
Some of the scenes like the one in which Sophie accidentally falls from the rooftop of a mansion, erupting anger of Udita in her workplace and Shreyas Talpade’s characterization are beautifully presented by the director.
The film, however, takes a beating when the heroics of Tusshar Kapoor are projected over the blue. Let’s admit this, we are not visionaries of brainless thrillers at hand.
Musically, Mithoon’s compositions are one of the low points of the film. As the voices used in the making of the songs don’t inculcate value to the soundtrack of the album. Cinematography is eventful and noteworthy.
Acting wise, Tusshar is good as a obsessed lover, as he looks to be improving after each and every stint on the silver screen. Shreyas is one of the best actors our Hindi Film Industry have seemed to found in the recent times.
Udita is okay. The audience expects a degree of skin show from the actress and she delivers her goods with equal ease. Nauheed Cyrusi is a waste. Saadhika is blatant. Sophie is noticed.
The film has taken a low opening and the misconception about the cast in the minds of the viewers may take a toll in its overall collections. Watch the film if you want a few thrilling moments imbibed on a jerky path.
