Bollywood gears up for big releases

After Shah Rukh Khan`s `RA.One` and Ranbir Kapoor`s `Rockstar`, Bollywood is set to roll out some of its big releases like `Dirty Picture`, `Don 2` and `Desi Boyz` this year.

The jury is still out on the box office performance of Shah Rukh Khan`s mega budget sci-fi `RA.One`, which was aggressively promoted by the actor.

SRK, however, has another chance to prove that he is still the `King of Bollywood` with `Don 2`, his second outing this year.

The film is the sequel to the 2006 film `Don: The Chase Begins Again`, a remake of the 1978 film `Don`. Being directed by Farhan Akhtar, it is set to release on December 23 in both 2D and 3D. The movie also stars Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta in lead roles.

There is lot of buzz surrounding Imtiaz Ali`s `Rockstar` post his crowd pleasers `Jab We Met` and `Love Aaj Kal`. Ranbir plays the lead role of a simpleton turned rocker in the film, which hit theatres today. It is yet to be seen whether

`Rockstar` finds favours with the audience. However, A R Rahman`s music is already a hit.

A lot is riding on Vidya Balan as she goes for a sultry make-over to play southern sex siren Silk Smitha in the upcoming biopic `Dirty Picture` by Milan Luthria.

Thanks to her cleavage-baring outfits and raunchy dance numbers, the film has already generated lot of curiosity but it is yet to be seen whether it lives up to the expectations on December 2.
Akshay Kumar, who did not have much luck with his previous releases `Patiala House`, `Tees Maar Khan`, `Thank You` and self-produced ice-hockey project `Speedy Singhs`, is pinning his hopes on `Desi Boyz`, which releases on November 25. Akshay is returning with John Abraham for this rom-com, which has Deepika Padukone and Chitrangada Singh as leading ladies.

`Ladies vs Ricky Bahl`, the next Yash Raj production, starring `Band Baja Barat` famed Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma, is also slated for a December release.

The film is about Ricky Bahl (Ranveer Singh), a suave and charming conman, who has conned more than 28 ladies, and has taken there money and left.

Real-life couple, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, are set to sizzle on-screen with spy drama `Agent Vinod`. The movie has been directed by Sriram Raghavan and will release on December 9.
