Saif's 'Agent Vinod' all set to make it large

Except for 'Agneepath', no other biggie has succeeded in a major way this year. In fact 'Players' was touted to be that one BIG film which would rock the box office but even that didn't quite happen. On the other hand a few medium budget films ensured that the industry stayed alive in the first quarter of the year. All of this only makes 'Agent Vinod' a crucial release since it is a multi crore affair that needs to do well in order to give the industry it's much needed big ticket success.

The Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor starrer has seen a good promotion coming it's way though one does feel that it isn't carrying the kind of push that normally accompanies an 'epic release'. Perhaps it is in line with the strategy that Saif wanted to adopt for his most ambitious project till date as he didn't want to oversell it. Nevertheless, a controlled promotion means that the film isn't really looking at creating or breaking any records.

Given the fact that it is arriving without any competition whatsoever, isn't preceded by any new release and would have only 'Blood Money' to contend with in week to follow, 'Agent Vinod' won't be dependent on just the opening weekend numbers and would be happy to enjoy a sustained run, hence allowing moolah to flow in. Nevertheless, it definitely requires good occupancy to give it a healthy kick-start as it is an expensive film.

Taking these factors into consideration as well as the fact that the film would be releasing on a massive print count, one expects a start in the range of 60%-65% for 'Agent Vinod', hence resulting in an opening of near 25 crore. Post that it's the film that would do the talking. Considering the fact that the man at the helm of affairs is Sriram Raghavan (who has to his credit films like 'Johnny Gaddaar' and 'Ek Haseena Thi'), one expects a quality thriller in the offering.
