AR Rahman honoured

Puthiya Thalaimurai news channel conducted an award function in the city yesterday. The channel presented its ‘Tamilan of the year’ awards to six achievers from Tamil Nadu.

The Oscar award winner AR Rahman received his award from the legendary director K Balachander under the arts category. The other five recipients were writer D Jayakanthan under the literature category, V Shantha, chairperson of Adyar Cancer Institute, for her social services, Industrialist Venu Srinivasan, under the industrial category, MS Swaminathan for his involvement in the country’s science and technological development, and Grand Master Vishwanath Anand for his achievements in the game of chess.
