Is Communism Dead Yet?

There are a handful of countries that are still considered communist regimes. Yet communism doesn't really exist. These countries are more like dictatorships with authoritarian type leaders who operate under the very thin veil of non-existent communism.

These groups or individual leaders that have near absolute power cause great harm to their country's populace on a continual basis.

Do you think there will be people who rejoice the day that Castro is gone or the Chinese Communist Party finally collapses? I think it is likely that there will be millions upon millions who will celebrate.

Control is what is important to the leaders of these countries. They feel that in order to maintain control they must stop anyone with an alternative point of view. They cannot allow an arena for open debate because they worry that debate may expose their flaws. They will not allow freedom of expression or freedom of belief.

In order to control, these regimes tend to use fear. Generally, they create a culture of fear where people become afraid of speaking up. This leads to less people speaking out or complaining about anything. The environment of fear is amplified or bolstered when people who do speak out are punished in one way or another.

Take for example the Chinese Communist Party. They decided that they just couldn't have those young college kids promoting democracy on Tiananmen Square and decided to squash them with tanks. This resulted in a lot of killing of the country's youth. That was in 1989. Most Chinese people today will not say anything bad about their government for fear of becoming a target.

Many people in China are sent to labor camps. They can even be sent there without having a trial. This is another level of control that keeps the people in line and under the thumb of the Party.

Despite all of this, there have been a record number of protests in China in recent years. The Chinese Communist Party is probably very worried.

This is what happens in the end. You can only have absolute control for so long. The pent up frustrations of a nation cannot be held at bay forever.

The Chinese Communist Party in particular has used some of the most brutal tactics ever to maintain control over the Chinese people, over the last several decades. In addition, they have no qualms about crossing international boundaries to attack the people they fear.

Yuan Li is a Falun Gong practitioner that lives in the city of Atlanta in the USA. Some Asian men forced their way into his house, tied him up and beat him. They took his laptop computers upon leaving, but did not take any valuables. It is suspected that the Chinese Communist Party's agents were responsible.

The CCP dislikes Falun Gong practitioners. In China, they are often tortured and sometimes killed. When the overseas practitioners let the world know what is happening, it angers and frustrates the Chinese Communist Party.

Never be fooled by the Chinese Communist Party or by their words. They care for only one thing, staying in power even if that means crushing innocent people in the process.

The world today is in deep crisis. Be it economical or political.
What we people are almost missing is the fact that the world is not getting bigger. It is getting smaller in terms of sustaining the growing population. So, how do we cope with it?
A government that can control every constituent is inevitable. A government that can order even the richer class to fold up their sleeves and till the soil. Power for food. And that's communism.

I think communism is not dead. Maybe it's not in use anymore but not because it is not good but because we're not ready for it. In 100 or more years communism will come back and be great.

Communism is certainly not dead. Many countries today have some form of communism. Afterall, it does look good on paper. :shock:

i think these days communism, or at least traces of it's core belief system, still exist on micro levels. like within a community or household or workplace.

and that's probably how it should be. communism should be refined so as to not be directly involved with government. it should be something people do because they want to, not because their country requires it of them

It's not dead yet :( It's not as obvious if you ask me- China's acting all democratic lately haha. The ideas behind communism are great but the ways it's carried out and enforced are pretty horrible. Read "Animal Farm" by George Orwell if you want to look into it a bit.

Well, if we accept the noteworthy thesis of F. Fukuyama, "The End of History", one can almost infer that Liberal Democracy is the future of mankind.

Even so, Communism is not dead and persists in scattered parts of world in various guises. Neverthless, the totality of Communism is still equal to the death of civilization.

As long as Christianity exists the ideals of Communism will as those are directly based on the Bible itself in which people are taught to love one's neighbor like oneself. Sharing bread and fishes, not to want to have more than your neighbor has, all principles on which the communist ideals are based. The fact that we attacked the Soviet Union from the moment it was created with troops from all sides forced them to be defensive and ultimately paranoic. Had they not have to live under the constant treat of our agression it might have been a totally different kind of society without all the horrid oppression that took place. Guantanamo Bay also isn't anywhere near what normal people would consider to be within the laws of decency and democracy, that too was created out of fear.

Well.... I'm gonna say no mainly because China is communist. :/

communism has nothing to do with christianity.some ideas in between are matching and related,it does not mean that they will exist together.

I am not communist but I know one, and he says that there's a problem when most people think of communists. Communism is where everyone works together for the state and doesn't get paid. However, there's free food, free health care, and free housing. Countries like the USSR were NOT COMMUNIST. They were totalitarian, which is the OPPOSITE of Communism. Total. is far-right wing and Comm. is far-left wing.

It seems that almost no one asked the question, but what about the Communist regimes in China, North Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, Mymamar, and Zimbabwe (which still exist and never went away); what about the Communist leaders, or so- called “former Communist leaders” still in power in most of the former Soviet Republics, in South Africa, etc.? And as we shall discuss below, what about the present spread of Communism in Latin America in Venezuela, Brazil, Columbia, Panama, Nicaragua and elsewhere?
