A R Rahman who was composing jingles for advertisement films was discovered by Manirathnam for composing the music for the film Roja.

A R Rahman gave his first virginal interview to a very popular Tamil magazine just one month before the release of the film Roja.

He was asked, "How did you compose the music for the film Roja and do you expect that you will get offers after this film?"

A R Rahman while replying to this question said, "I don’t know that whether the songs of this film will be a hit. I also don’t know whether I will get opportunities after this film. But one thing is for sure. I will bring Tamil music to International standard."A

R Rahman proved this as he had mentioned. Oscar Awards was a dream to Indian cinema. He brought pride to India by bagging two Oscar awards. A R Rahman who won the Golden Globe Award and Grammy awards is now necessarily become a part of Hollywood cinema.

Yes. There is sweet news for A R Rahman’s fans. The news is that A R Rahman has finished composing music for the Hollywood stalwart director Steven Spielberg’s film. He could not have given any other birthday gift to A R Rahman than this.

A R Rahman while speaking to the media in Chennai said, "I have completed composing music for the Hollywood film titled Welcome to People. This film has been directed by Alex Kurtzman who is the story writer for the Mission Impossible series.

This film has been co-produced by Steven Spielberg. This year(2012) I am composing for four Indian films. I am composing music for Rajni starrer Kochadaiyan, Vijay starrer Yohan directed by Gowtham Menon and for two Hindi films.

There is also news that he has composed music for a Malayalam and a Kannada film titled God Father.

A R Rahman who has celebrated his 46th birthday yesterday has received 4 National Awards, 14 Filmfare Awards, 13 Filmfare South awards and 4 Bollywood music awards.

Apart from all these awards, he got the Oscar Awards, BAFTA awards, Grammy Awards and Golden Globe Awards for the music he composed for the Hollywood film Slumdog Millionaire.
