Smart cards for school students in TN
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today launched a smart card scheme for students of government run and government-aided schools in the State. An official release here said, the Chief Minister had on September 5 launched the Education Management Information System (EMIS), which co-ordinates four important websites. Among the portals, has been uploaded with details of schools, teachers and students. As part of this initative, the Chief Minister directed issuance of smart cards to the students of government run and government aided schools in the State.
On a trial basis, Jayalalithaa distributed smart cards to students of Tiruchendurai Government Higher Secodnary School, Somarasampettai Government Higher Secondary School, Ettarai Government Higher Secondary School, Ayyalapettai Government Higher Secondary School and Kulathur Higher Secondary School. She distributed the cards at a function held at the State Secretariat here. The release said data in these smart cards would be consolidated through the EMIS.
