Pothencode Santhigiri Parnasala, Thiruvananthapuram
Pothencode Santhigiri Parnasala : Navajyothi Sree Karunakara Guru (born 1927, died 1999) was from Chandiroor in Alappuzha district. His followers made this beautiful monument called parnasala in the shape of a blooming lotus in white Makrana marble. It has a height of 30 m, a diameter of 28 m, 12 petals on top and 9 petals at bottom, 9 pillars inside and 12 pillars outside, made of 11 100 sq m Makrana white marble. It is lighted during night in different colours. It took 10 years for completion.
Form Thiruvananthapuram East Fort, I got a bus to Venjaramood going via Sreekarym & Pothencode Santhigiri Ashramam (21 km). The parnasala at Santhigiri Ashramam is at walkable distance from bus stop. Free food for pilgrims.
