M.Tech admissions
Applications have been invited for admission to M.Tech. programmes in government and aided engineering colleges in the State. The applicants should have minimum 60 per cent aggregate marks in the engineering degree examination. For students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, a pass mark is sufficient and for those belonging to the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes, minimum 54 per cent aggregate marks are mandatory.
Those who have passed the AMIE or AMIETE examination should have a score in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), minimum 55 per cent marks in Section B in the AMIE or AMIETE examination and at least three years of professional experience in the field of specialisation after acquiring the qualifying degree.
Those who have appeared for the final semester B.Tech. examination can apply, provided they have passed all subjects up to and including the sixth semester examination (eighth semester for B.Arch. students).
Admission is normally restricted to those with a valid GATE score, except in the case of sponsored candidates. In case seats remain vacant, applicants from the State even without a valid GATE score will be considered.
Applications should be filled online on Home or Govt. of Kerala, Directorate of Technical Education. After submitting the application online, an application fee of Rs. 500 (Rs. 100 for students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) should be paid in any specified branch of the State Bank of Travancore with challan generated on submission of application. A printout of the filled application should be taken and sent with copies of the required documents to the Principal, College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram – 695 016. Applications can be submitted online till June 12 and the printout will be received till June 15.
The candidates will have to register their college and course options while submitting the application. The selection of candidates will be supervised by a selection committee consisting of the Director of Technical Education (Chairman), the Senior Joint Director (ECS) and the Principal, College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram. The Principal will be the coordinator and the venue for admission work will be the college.
Selection will be on the basis of the GATE score. The rank list and allotment will be published in the institutions on June 25 and on Govt. of Kerala, Directorate of Technical Education and Home. The allotment letter can be downloaded from the websites. The first allotment will be made on July 8. The selected candidates will have to remit the fee by July 11 in any of the specified branches of the State Bank of Travancore. The second allotment will be made on July 16 and the fee should be paid by July 20. The third allotment is scheduled for July 30 and the fee can be paid till August 3. Scholarships are paid to candidates with a GATE score at Rs. 8,000 a month. Those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes will get stipends.
The College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram; Government Engineering College, Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram; TKM College of Engineering, Kollam; Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Kottayam; MA College of Engineering, Kothamangalam; Government Engineering College, Thrissur; Government Engineering College, Sreekrishnapuram, Palakkad; NSS College of Engineering, Palakkad; Government Engineering College, Kozhikode; Government College of Engineering, Kannur; Government Engineering College, Idukki; and Government Engineering College, Wayanad; are the colleges that offer M.Tech. courses.
For the courses in self-financing colleges, a rank list will be published from among the applicants and admission will be done to 50 per cent of the seats by the institutions themselves from the rank list, by inviting separate applications.
Medical PG admission
The Commissioner for Entrance Examination, Thiruvananthapuram, has invited applications online from those on the State rank list of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) Postgraduate for seat allotment for admission to postgraduate medical degree and diploma courses. Applicants should be Indian citizens of Kerala origin or should be the son or daughter of non-Keralite parents who have obtained the MBBS degree from any of the medical colleges in Kerala and opted for domicile status in the State. The upper age limit for general-quota candidates will be 45 as on April 30 and for service-quota candidates, 46.
Applicants should have obtained minimum 50 percentile in the NEET-PG conducted by the National Board of Examinations. Those belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes and Socially and Educationally Backward Classes require at least 40 percentile and for those with locomotor disability, 45 percentile.

The application fee for service and general candidates is Rs. 1,000 (Rs. 500 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes).
The fee can be paid using a challan available along with the printout of the online application at any branch of the State Bank of Travancore. Those outside Kerala should pay the fee in the form of a demand draft drawn in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations payable in Thiruvananthapuram. Take a printout of the online application and affix a passport-size photograph and get it attested by a gazetted officer. The same should be sent, along with documents, to the Commissioner for Entrance Examination, Housing Board Buildings, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, so as to reach there on or before 5 p.m. on May 28.
