Malayalam superstar Mammootty on Saturday launched ‘Vazhikaatti', an anti-drug use awareness campaign organised by the Care and Share International Foundation at a function held at the K.E.M. School, Alangad, near Nedumbassery.

Speaking at the event, the actor said Kerala topped the list of alcohol consuming States in the country and urged the government to forgo the revenues from the sale of liquor. Surveys have revealed the alarming fact that the average age of youngsters beginning to consume alcohol and narcotic substances is as low as 13, he said.

Observing that intoxication from alcohol, drugs and tobacco would lead to a range of addictions, he exhorted the student community to take a sincere pledge to avoid intoxicants.
