The Toc H Public School, Kochi

The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, for AISSE (Grade 10) and AISSCE (Grade 12) examinations.
Toc H Public School is owned and managed by the Toc H Public School Society, Kochi. This is a charitable organization which has drawn inspiration from Toc H International.
School History
The Toc H Public School opened its doors in 1978.
The school is sponsored by the Toc H Society and administered by the Board of Directors. This Society is registered as a charitable Society under the Act of 1955. Toc H is an international Christian social service organization having its origins at Popperinge in Belgium during the First World War.
The school began in 1978 with 32 students, on the 3rd floor of Kalabhavan near Ernakulam Town Hall. The first principal was Mrs. Chinnamma Skaria. The school opened with only the first and fifth standards. The first student of the school was Sudhakaran and the second student of the school was Gopal Shenoy, both joining the school in the fifth grade. The other students in the fifth grade included Rajesh Gupta, Shivkumar P K and Ronnie Thomas. The first teacher ever hired by the school was Mrs. Roselyn Menendes to teach the first grade. During the second year, the second and sixth standard were added. In 1980, the school bought its own property (a reclaimed land) at Vytila with a water frontage. The school is still located at this current location.
The first batch that graduated the 10th standard in 1984 consisted of seven students - Gopal Shenoy, Rajesh Gupta, Shivkumar P K, Nauphael Badshah, John Kuruvila, Akshay Kirti Agarwal and George Kurien.
Toc H today has 1782 students, housed in an imposing building with a water frontage.
Admission -Eligibility
Admissions are held in the month of October every year for the nursery section, for which applications are received in the first week of October. This is followed by an interaction with the parents. Weightages are given for the neighbourhood factor, for having siblings already in the school, and for the girl-child.
Children who attain the age of three years by 31st December are eligible for admission to LKG.
Admissions to UKG are entertained in the month of April, only if vacancies are available and the entrant should be due to complete 4-1/2 years by June.
For admissions to Standard I, preference is given to applicants from the School’s nursery section. For the outsiders, an entrance test is conducted.
For admission to Standard XI, the marks scored in Standard X are considered. In the science stream, the cut-off percentage is higher than in commerce stream.
For the classes in between in the primary and secondary sections, lateral entry is permitted only if vacancies are available. The School announces the vacancy position in early April, and admissions are completed by mid-April on the basis of entrance examinations. It is mandatory for the applicants to fulfill the eligibility norms prescribed by the CBSE.
