India, Sri Lanka fluff lines in sight of victory India, Sri Lanka fluff lines in sight of victory

Everyday is not Sunday. For once, Mahendra Singh Dhoni couldn't pull a rabbit out of his hat. Yet, to the credit of the India captain, even if he failed to author another sensational win for his side, he ensured that his team did not finish on the losing side.

Dhoni fought like an emperor amongst the ruins as he again stood between India and defeat. In doing so, he made his 200th One-Day International more memorable by ensuring a tied game against Sri Lanka in a nerve-wracking finish on Tuesday.

After all the twists and turns on a warm evening at the Adelaide Oval, India needed four runs for victory off the last ball of the match.

They also had their best man Dhoni on strike against possibly the best death bowler, Lasith Malinga, someone who is usually difficult to get away. As the hearts beat a bit faster, Malinga ran in furiously and bowled a delivery that was full and wide outside the off-stump. Dhoni reached out for it and scooped it over extra-cover.

However, Sachithra Senanayake did a great job near the boundary as he dived full length and managed to parry the ball to Nuwan Kulasekara.
