Mohanlal after doing a few family entertainers is back in Shaji Kailas directed Natturajavu. In this film, Mohanlal plays Pulikattil Charley, a tough guy.
Mohanlal's Achayan characters have always clicked in the past and has a mass appeal. And the actor has once again twirled his moustache, wears silk kurtas and dhothis and a chunky gold chain for the role of Charley. As usual, the film is being produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirwad Cinemas. One of the highlights of the film is the script by T A Shahid.
The film tells the story of Charley, a revolutionary in his own way. This role is nothing new for the superstar and when asked about the role of Charley, Shaji says the character of Charley will be a bold one. He enacts the role of a rich planter, who is soft at heart. His costumes of a planter are designed in a special pattern.
Some scenes of the film were shot at a stone quarry near Wadakancherry. Siddique enacts the role of George Kutty. Kalabhavan Mani too has an important role in this film. KPAC Lalitha does the role of Charley's Valiammachi and he calls her Thankammachi. The two heroines of the film are Meena and Nayantara.
Also in the cast are Saikumar, Jagathy Sreekumar, Vijayaraghavan, Riyaz Khan, Jagadhish, Kottayam Nazir and many others. The film will be brought to the theatres by Aroma Mani.
When all the other film shootings were cancelled due to the cinema bandh, the crew of Natturajave went ahead with the shooting. But at the last minute, the team was forced to leave the location and call for pack up.
The reason is that producer Antony Perumbavoor got a notice from all leading theatres in the state saying that Natturajavu will be banned by them and will not be given playing time. They also demanded back the advance given by them, which forced the superstar and team to make a hasty retreat.
