Both ur PC and laptop must hav ethernet card
    Use a RJ-42 cable with cross-crimping
Conect the cables into the ports
    Let windows choose the IPs
    i.e use DHCP
Now share the drives from desktp PC
by right clicking on each drive and say enable sharing
Now the drives u shared can b accessed through laptop

And my humble request to u sir
Plz post something or contribute to the forum
    All know jokes
SO atleast post them in jokes forum
    Thnak u

The meaning of direct access is diff here
He wants direct access as in LAN
the meaning of direct access is that the data
shudnt be stored in third party storage device
    I think u r CSE std
So u must know this better than me

If the dat is first transferred to usb and then to other comp
then it cannot b direct access from the desktop PC
it will b direct access 4m USB device

if u still think i am wrong
then refer to any basic computer book for definition
    of direct access
