The Censor Board has denied giving the certificate for director T Deepesh's Pithavinum Puthranum reportedly citing objection towards the film's content. The film had Parishudhatmavinum as well to the title but had to be deleted at the insistence of the publicity clearance committee.

Deepesh has directed the film Nakharam earlier. Pithavinum Puthranum is said to be about two nuns in a convent and is reportedly inspired from Sister Jesme's controversial book titled Amen and also from the Abhaya murder case.

The film reportedly shows a community in bad light and that has been cited as the reason for denying the certificate. The film has Dhwani, director V K Prakash and art director Sabu Cyril in the cast.
