    Default Amendments to the Legal Metrology (packaged commodities) rules, 2011 wef 01/07/2013

    Dear Members,

    The Government of India vide GSR 359(E) dated 06/06/2013 (takes effect from 01/07/2013) have brought many amendments to the "Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodoties) Rules, 2011 and also Legal Metrology Act, 2009. All these details can be had from me contact "[email protected]"

    Salient points

    rule 18( 8 ) : The deliveryman has to weigh the LPG cylinder while delivering it to customers. For the purpose, he has to keep a 50 kg, e=10 g, Class III weighing instrument.

    Domestic LPG cylinder of Public Sector undertakings (IOC, BPC, HPC) weigh 5 kg/14.2 kg. The maximum permissible error on 14.2 kg LPG cylinder is 150 g.

    rule 32(3) : Compounding fee

    Sec 29 : Rs 2000/10000 for Retailer, Distributor/Packer, Importer, Manufacturer
    Sec 36(1) : Rs 5000/25000 for Retailer, Distributor/Packer, Importer, Manufacturer
    Sec 36(2) : Rs 10000/50000 for Retailer, Distributor/Packer, Importer, Manufacturer
