    Default Kodungallur Kavutheendal, Kerala

Kodungallur kavutheendal at Bhagavathy temple is on 1 April 2014, 4 pm. Devotees from north Kerala widely participated in the festival. Hundreds of Vellichapads (oracles/komarams) clad in red dress wearing ceremonial swords and singing earthy songs ('Tha Naro Thannaro Thana Tha ....'. ), shed blood in front of the Goddess. When the red ceremonial umbrella was unfurled over king as a signal to pollute the temple, the oracles with bloodied face and piercing eyes ran around the temple in a trance, singing profane songs and smiting their forehead by the sabres in their hand with a ritualistic vengeance, while others of their entourage charged the temple rafters with sticks and hurl objects like turmeric and chicken over the roof and the inner quadrangle of the temple.

The temple is located 31 km from Edappally/Kochi on NH 17 in Thrissur district of Kerala
