    Default IP monitoring software

Is there a bizhhat option, or some 3rd party software we can use on our forum that will allow a forum site administrator to monitor and keep logs of IP addresses? (ie through a link in the forum).

If you look at one of the posts on your forum you will see a little box marked "IP". if you click on it it will show you the ip addy of the poster, and what other posters may have used the IP. IN the admins section you can also ban any IP addys that may give you problems.

Thanks. That works for people who have posted. And for people online while I am online as Admin. But what about those people who are online long enough to post a new profile (with advertising) then leave? Do they leave a trace somewhere? Is there software that will keep a trace of all visitors? It is their IP obviously that I want to ban. Thanks again.

I dont see that option anywhere. You could set it up that the account must be activated by an admin.

Under General Admin click on Configuration then under Enable account activation click enable the ADMIN option.

Also are you using the Enable Visual Confirmation
Requires users enter a code defined by an image when registering. option?

Thanks for helping. I do have the Enable Visual Confirmation on. I did turn on Enable account activation by Admin, we'll see if that helps.

It seems to me that the email accounts this "person" is using are invalid, but somehow his user profile still gets activated! Clearly there is a glitch in the forum programming.

If you have any more suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

I also have this problem. I have "Enable Visual Confirmation" on as well as the "activate by Admin only" set and the spammers STILL come in and register. At least they cannot post but in the meantime, any of my members who comes into the forum has full view of the new registration (albeit one that is unable to post). If anyone happens to see one of these spammer registrations, they can click on the screen name given and see the profile which may include a link to porn, drug or other trash sites. This is a real problem in our forums which I sincerely wish could be addressed and a solution be found for by our BizHat Admin folks. Of course, we do have free forums sites but this type of thing could easily discourage new forums site owners very quickly. I am currently getting an average of 25 spam registrations daily throughout the Christmas season. It really gets old quickly! Good luck and if you come up with a solution for this highly irritating problem, please clue me in too!

Anyone interested in learning about this spam and what you can do about it go to:

    http://BotBoard.org

Together we can put an end to it.

The only way I could find to suspend registration is to go to ban control and ban all email addresses:
    *@*.com
    *@*.ru
    *@*.cn
    *@*.info
    *@*.org
    etc, etc, etc.

I couldn't get *@*.* to work, you might try it though.
