Items Needed

* Glass Carafe/ Demitasse Cup
* Espresso Machine
* Ground Espresso Beans
* Spring Water

Instructions

* Pour cold, clear water into the water chamber of machine and secure the boiler cap tightly.
* If you want a single shot of espresso, 1 ounce water is enough, while for a double ounce, you will require two ounces.
* Place the coffee basket in the filter holder and lightly pack the ground coffee inside.
* Any coffee grounds on the sides or top of the filter should be removed. Now, place the filter holder in the machine.
* Put the glass carafe, which comes with the machine, or a demitasse cup under the spout.
* Now is the time to turn on the coffee machine.
* The machine will heat the water to the right temperature and force the water through the coffee grounds.
* You will see the coffee flowing into the cup, with brown foam, or "crema", on the top.
* As soon as you see the foam turning almost white in color, remove the cup. Your espresso is ready.

Tips for Making Espresso

* If you grind espresso beans at home, remember that the result should be very fine, but not completely powdery.
* While brewing espresso, make sure that the top is securely in place. Otherwise, the high-pressure water might make it explode.
* The metal parts of the machine remain hot, for some amount of time, even after it has been switched off. So, handle it carefully.
* Never ever make use of bottled spring water in an espresso machine. The high mineral content might harm the machine.
