go and try your best to make traditional "sambar" following the steps as below:


quantity depends on you, bt go with small quantity as a first timer.

Wash and cut all the vegetables (drumstick,green pepper,okra,eggplant are the essentials) .
Boil water and cook tuvar dal with turmeric and salt.
Separate the cooked dal from water, and keep them aside.do not throw the water.
In separated dal water cook the vegetables you have cut.
After the veggies are cooked, add tamarind paste,the cooked thuvar dal and simmer for a few more minutes(may be 5-10 mins).
in a pan,heat some oil,in sequence go on adding mustard,methi, red chillies, green chillies, curry leaves, hing, turmeric, and sambhar powder to this oil and keep frying for a few minutes.
Lastly add the dal you kept saparate before.
Sprinkle coriander leaves and serve with rice/dosa/idli/pongal.
