    Default Brushing & Combing Hair

Although brushing is less damaging than combing but a soft brush does not cause more damage to hair than a comb.

Prolonged brushing can also harm the hair. Back combing also damages the hair.

It causes knotting which is very difficult to untangle. A good comb should always be preferred.

A good comb is that which have rounded and not sharp teeth.

Brush ends should always be rounded to minimize the mechanical damage to hair. Nylon brushes with spiky ends also damage the hair.

    Steps for proper brushing:

*A sharp teethed brush should not be used as it tears the hair apart.

*For removing the tangles, first brush the end hair and then slowly move upward.

*Hang your head down and brush from upward to downward position.

*Long thick hair needs a bigger brush with stiffer bristles.

*Short or curly hair needs a narrow brush with a longish rectangular head and bristles widely spaced.

*Always brush hair when they are dry because brushing wet hair sticks them together and then a greater force is required to comb which causes damage to the hair.

*Natural oils along the hair are distributed by brushing.

*Use the softer brush which do not scratch the head.
