Tips On Being A Good Houseguest
Being a good houseguest is not impossible. These few simple points will help you realise just that.
* The first and foremost prerequisite of being a good houseguest is that you inform your hosts of the plan for your visit well in advance.
* Tell your host the exact dates of arrival and departure and find out if the dates suit your host as well.
* Always arrive on time and on the day you had discussed with your host. If there are any changes in your travel plans, make sure you inform your hosts of it.
* It is a good idea to bring some gifts for your hosts so as to show them that you appreciate their hospitality.
* Before you settle down, it would be a good idea to ask your hosts about their daily routine since you will need to adjust to them.
* Make sure that you maintain the room that you have been provided with. Try to keep it neat and tidy so as not to add extra work to your host’s already busy schedule.
* In case your room does not have a bathroom it is likely that you will be sharing your host’s bathroom. Be considerate in using it. Don’t take too long to complete your business and don’t leave your clothes or other toiletries in the bathroom once you are done. It would also be advisable not to fiddle around with your host’s toiletries or use them without permission.
* Make sure you don’t ignore your hosts and engage them in conversation and spend time with them. When conversing with you hosts make sure you do not speak offensively of anything that they may regard highly. While it is a good thing to communicate with your host, it would be an impolite if you kept your host up till very late in the night.
* When the host or the hostess starts preparing the meals, always offer to help. Since your host is gracious he or she will decline your offer. Even if you are not allowed to lend a hand, make sure that you give your host company while he or she cooks the meal.
* If you have plans of going out and visiting someone, make sure that you inform your hosts so that they don’t have to wait for you to return. Also, if you are going, make sure you don’t come back very late in the night as that will just be inconvenient for your hosts.
* Lastly, stick to your original departure plans. Don’t extend your stay without a just cause.
The main idea behind all these tips is to ensure that when you leave the house you leave behind a good impression and an invitation to visit again.

How about being a good host. I live on the US gulf coast and often family comes to vacation at our house. I have a guest bedroom its always clean. When guests come to stay on they know they can go into the room and toss it with all their stuff. Good thing when they leave they take all their stuff with them. My house has a comfortable lived in look, beautiful peaceful country. Big yard lots of trees and my guests leave feeling more relaxed then when they got here. My home has been dubbed the name the healing place.
